fig.: The images were captured at the backstage area at Osklen Spring/Summer on 11 September 2013 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. The puristic ponytail hairstyle with shine detail was created by Aveda. On the picture above, the model wears a piece from the Osklen SS2014 made from 'Tropical Stones' fabric with floral print and gemstone embroidery around the neckline; below, a transparent emerald green top. Shiny hairstyle inspired by gemstones

...seen at Aveda's nature/technological inspired look for the New York runway show of Osklen Spring/Summer 2014.

Antoinette Beenders, Aveda Global Creative Director, is the creator of the look with ponytail and shiny detail. She derived her inspiration from the knowledge that when light shines on a gemstone only one side reflects brilliantly. Antoinette Beenders incorporated this phenomenon and applied only on one side of the head a light-reflecting texture for the gemstone shine effect. On the video below, Antoinette Beenders is speaking about the hair creation.

"The Osklen style isn't entirely raw or technological. It finds a middle ground," explains Osklen designer Oskar Metsavaht in a video documentary his approach to the urban designs which reference nature. Oskar Metsavaht started with fashion after a mountain tour which he attended as medical doctor. "There weren't ski jackets around in Brazil". For his creations of mountain wear, he combined fashion with his knowledge of the human body. Currently, Into The Mountains FW2013 and +5521Rio SS2014 are on view on Osklen's website.
