Series 'A selection of perfumes with traveling in mind', #2: Globetrotting with Bond No.9

At the 1st edition of the new series about traveling and perfumery, the olfactory ticket led to Spain. Now, in the second edition, the voyage leads through various countries and landscapes. The scent pyramid can be compared with a film sequence created from diverse scenes playing at different locations to tell one universal story: The birthplace of creativity is in the head of the ones who are inspired by other people and cultures.

The olfactory story starts in 'Greenwich Village' in New York, in a small café-deli. The waiter behind the sausage, cheese, vegetables, bread counter selects the ingredients for the sandwich and asks: "American or Switzerland?" She says "No, I'm from Austria", which was the wrong answer for the sandwich but the best to start a conversation about the European flair of Greenwich Village and life in New York. The best moments of the conversation were those caused by language translation misunderstandings, which meant that both sides had to provide detailed explanations which gave a well considered meaning to what was said.

After the snack, she went to the outside area in front of the café-deli. The tables were decorated with small bouquets. The flowers spread an extraordinary watery, light fresh scent which reminded her of holidays at the Côte d'Azur and the relaxing, happy time with friends at a wonderful garden at the beach. She closes her eyes for the exploration of the notes of the steel-salt scent of the air of New York, a city that is for her familiar and strange at the same time, and the memory of the floral-maritime fragrance of the South-French coast. Suddenly, another fragrance captures her interest - a scent with a cosiness she knows from coffee houses in her hometown Vienna. She opened her eyes. In front of her two vanilla pralines with a greeting from the kitchen. "A perfect match for the café à la Vienne," said the waiter with a smile serving the coffee.
