From Daily Habits to High Tech: How Men Approach Beauty Today

From Basics to Technology

There are a few classic tips that remain the foundation of good appearance at any age. Balanced nutrition, enough sleep, physical activity and daily sun protection still matter most. Skincare does not start with devices or treatments, but with simple routines such as cleansing, moisturizing and protecting the skin from UV damage. At the same time, men are increasingly aware of new technologies and medical options. From non-invasive treatments to surgical procedures, the range of beauty measures for men has expanded significantly in recent years.

A Brief Look at Medical Trends

Studies from Germany and Austria show that male interest in aesthetic treatments is growing. According to recent figures from professional associations, men mainly choose functional or corrective procedures. Breast reduction for gynecomastia, liposuction and facial treatments are among the most common surgical interventions, while injections such as botulinum toxin or fillers are gaining popularity as less invasive options. Overall, the trend points toward treatments that promise natural results with limited downtime rather than radical changes.

Skincare Becomes Normal

Beyond medical procedures, everyday skincare plays a central role. A recent study conducted by the Berlin-based research institute Civey on behalf of SharkNinja highlights how attitudes are shifting in Germany. SharkNinja is a global technology company known for household appliances and beauty technology. Its CryoGlow LED face mask combines light-based skincare with cooling technology and is also available in Austria. TIME magazine recently included the product in its list of the Best Inventions of 2025.

The Civey study shows that for around half of German men, facial skincare is important. Especially men between 18 and 39 associate skincare with well-being, skin health and protection rather than purely with looking younger. Most respondents spend moderate monthly amounts on skincare products, and many see skincare as a normal part of daily hygiene, comparable to brushing teeth. Notably, there is also openness toward using technical devices to support skincare routines.

Knowledge, Choice and Balance

The results underline a broader development: men today have more knowledge and more options than ever before. Beauty measures can be supported effectively with simple habits such as healthy eating, avoiding smoking and consistent sun protection. At the same time, being informed about advances in technology and medical treatments can be helpful for those who want targeted support.
In the end, classic basics remain essential, while modern tools and medical expertise offer additional possibilities. The balance between everyday care and informed use of innovation defines the contemporary approach to male beauty.
