Henkel is launching the Martha Schwarzkopf Award for Women in Science for the third time to support female researchers in the fields of natural sciences, medicine, and computer science, particularly in hair research. The award includes prizes for lifelong contributions and emerging talents, with a total of €20,000 in prizes. The application phase began on February 11th, coinciding with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. In the press release, Henkel emphasized the importance of diversity and gender equality in scientific innovation. The award honors Martha Schwarzkopf, a pioneering female entrepreneur in Germany's hair care industry. Martha Schwarzkopf established the Institute for Hair Research. The application deadline is June 1st, 2024, and submissions should include a letter of motivation, CV, publication list, and research summary. Female researchers worldwide with doctorates and extensive experience in natural sciences, medicine, or computer sciences, focusing on hair research or related fields, are eligible to apply. It's announced that winners will be invited to a ceremony and scientific conference in Germany and offered a mentoring program. Evaluation criteria include relevance, impact, innovation potential, feasibility, and significance for the hair cosmetics sector.
